For Peter May, woodworking and music have always belonged together.

Peter started as a carpenter and cabinetmaker, building a deep understanding of wood and a passion for working with his hands. That same curiosity and his passion for music eventually led him to string instrument repair.

After an extensive career with Long & McQuade in Halifax, Nova Scotia, he set out on his own. Today, Blue Dog Repairs brings that experience to a workshop focused on fiddle and violin repair, alongside furniture repairs and woodworking.

Off the clock, Peter is an exceptional guitar player, a keen birdwatcher, and an animal lover. He’s always up for a weekend adventure with his loving partner, Kim. And when he’s not repairing instruments, you’ll often find him with a freshly brewed coffee or tinkering with something in his workshop.
